Rangers: Steven Gerrard must go all in for Adam Lallana

When Steven Gerrard was announced as manager of Rangers, many fans expected the Liverpool legend to use his contacts to bring in quality signings, and that’s exactly what has happened.

The former Reds and England midfielder brought in Ryan Kent on-loan, who has been a sensation for the club, as well as Jon Flanagan, who has been a good a squad player for Rangers, and the upcoming summer transfer window could see Gerrard use his influence and reputation to bring in some more quality additions.

This summer could be the perfect opportunity for Gerrard to snipe more good talent from his former side, with many big names expected to leave Liverpool this transfer window as Jurgen Klopp aims to clear out the deadwood of his side, and one of these names could end up in Scotland.

According to the Express at the start of the week, Adam Lallana could be a potential signing for Rangers this summer if the former Southampton captain decides to call time on his career at Liverpool, and even if Gerrard signs the playmaker on loan, it would be a great deal for the Gers.

Lallana, who joined Liverpool in 2014 for a reported £25 million, would add quality to the Rangers midfield that will elevate the club to new levels in both the Scottish Premiership and in Europe.

The 31-year-old midfielder has proven to be a productive player when given the chance to play consistently in the starting XI, and implemented into Gerrard’s 4-3-3 formation could result in an increase in goals and assists from the midfield.

Gerrard’s smarts in the transfer market will be what takes Rangers to the next level next season, and Lallana will be a testament to that statement if the club are able to court the Liverpool man.

Rangers fans, would Lallana be a good signing this summer? Let us know!

Garth Crooks makes simply awful West Ham claim

[ad_pod ]

Garth Crooks has made the absolutely absurd claim that West Ham United could win the Premier League if they imagined that they were playing Tottenham Hotspur every week, per the BBC.

What’s he said?

Manuel Pellegrini’s side became the first away team to win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

The Irons won 1-0, thanks to a superb Michail Antonio volley in the second half.

And Crooks, writing in his BBC column, believes that the Hammers would win the Premier League title if they approached every game like they were playing their London rivals.

He said:  If West Ham approached every game as though they were playing Tottenham Hotspur, they would win the Premier League title.

“What is it with these London clubs. Why do they hate Tottenham so much?”

West Ham moved into 11th place in the Premier League table with their victory.

Have to hope he’s joking

Crooks has a habit of coming out with the absolutely ridiculous and he’s at it again here.

To claim that West Ham could win the Premier League title in any context is flat out ridiculous but to do so after a win over a beleaguered Spurs side who are struggling with a boatload of injuries is hyperbole in the extreme.

Perhaps he was joking, but let’s not forget that the Hammers are currently 46 points behind Manchester City at the top of the league. To put that into context, West Ham have taken exactly 46 points this season. They are only 32 points ahead of bottom-placed Huddersfield Town.

Even if it was a joke, it does not reflect at all well on a man who is paid to give his opinions on football.

Crooks ought to start doing his research and stop spouting absolute nonsense, joke or not.

We don’t need him: Liverpool fans do not want Tanguy Ndombele arrival

[ad_pod ]

According to Euro United’s official Twitter account, Liverpool have agreed terms with Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele ahead of a potential move to Anfield.

However, the same report has claimed that the Reds are yet to agree a transfer fee with Lyon, whilst Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are in the same situation.

It is not exactly confirmation that the 22-year-old will arrive on Merseyside, but it does appear that the Frenchman will be leaving his Ligue 1 side this summer.

Ndombele has impressed many with his performances this season, but it seems that the majority of Liverpool fans are not interested in a potential deal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are expected to be in the market for a new midfielder this summer.

Mo Salah has been brutally mocked for his recent diving antics in a new video by 442oons. Check it out below…

However, a swoop for a more forward-thinking player seems to be on the agenda for the Champions League finalists.

West Ham fans not happy as club wishes Marko Arnautovic a happy birthday on Twitter

[ad_pod ]

Loads of West Ham United fans on Twitter have been reacting to a controversial club Tweet wishing outcast striker Marko Arnautovic a happy 30th birthday.

The post contained a conventional message of goodwill alongside a video of his goal against Everton in a 3-1 win on the final day of the 2017/2018 season.

It was both the strike itself, called a “rocket” by the Hammers despite it being more a goalkeeping error by Jordan Pickford, and the fact that their team was even wishing Arnautovic a happy birthday in the first place that upset members of the Claret & Blue Army the most.

Since almost leaving the London Stadium for the Chinese Super League in the January transfer window but instead deciding to sign a contract extension, the Austrian international hasn’t been the same player, looking disinterested and not registering a single goal.

Supporters took aim at the Tweet fairly quickly with one writing “dreadful post,” a series of them sarcastically pretending the reigning Hammer of the Year no longer plays for Manuel Pellegrini’s men and another claiming “a toddler with no fingers would save that” referring to the clip. Inevitably, much of the reaction too was focused on simply slamming the 30-year-old forward.

Opinion: Bournemouth signing Kalvin Phillips would show Eddie Howe is learning from his mistakes

There is no doubt that Eddie Howe will be pleased with how life in the Premier League has gone for Bournemouth since their promotion back in 2015.

Under the Englishman, the Cherries have rarely ever looked like being in real danger of dropping back down to the Championship, even managing to secure a top-half finish a couple seasons ago.

Considering that, now really is the time for the south coast club to push on and start to fight for that spot just outside the top six.

All things considered, it is probably a spot Bournemouth should be challenging for already.

Had Howe not got so many of his transfers wrong in recent windows, they could have so easily been up there now fighting against the likes of Wolves and Watford.

What is done is done, however, and in Howe’s defence, he is now starting to work the transfer market better.

Recent signings David Brooks and Jefferson Lerma have been revelations at the Vitality Stadium this season, while the addition of Kalvin Phillips could also prove to be a good move.

According to Football Insider, Howe has his eyes on Phillips and his Leeds United team-mate Jack Clarke, with the 23-year-old’s versatility making him such an attractive proposition.

As someone who can play both in central defence and midfield, the signing of Phillips would be ideal for a coach like Howe, who uses both a four-man and five-man defence depending on the fixture.

Based on that, Howe looks to be learning from his mistakes, targeting names who will improve his starting XI, rather than a host of squad players and outcasts from big clubs.

Bradford City: Bantams fans react on Twitter to Daniel Devine’s new deal

It has been a terrible year to be a Bradford City supporter, hasn’t it?

Despite starting the 2018/19 campaign in positive spirits, the Valley Parade faithful soon realised that their side were in for a real struggle in League One after they suffered a number of poor results.

Although the Bantams would change their manager on two occasions in eight months, the sincere lack of quality in their squad ultimately culminated in them finishing nine-point adrift of safety.

With Gary Bowyer clearly needing to launch a complete overhaul of his squad this summer, the fact that he has given Daniel Devine a new contract could indicate that he may be willing to put his trust in Bradford’s academy players next season.

An exciting young prospect, the midfielder has been limited to just 34 appearances since making his debut in 2016 yet with his side dropping down in level, he will be hoping to establish himself as a mainstay in the first team.

Reacting to the news that Devine had agreed to stay at their club for at least another year on Twitter, loads of Bradford fans expressed their delight at the decision.

Having led Blackpool to promotion from League Two in 2017, Bowyer will be confident that he can achieve the same feat with Bradford in the upcoming campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday: Bruce must consider signing Quentin Beunardeau in the summer

It has been a roller-coaster of a season to be a Sheffield Wednesday supporter hasn’t it?

After experiencing a torrid start to the Championship campaign, the Owls’ decision to sack Jos Luhukay in December and replace him with Steve Bruce has proved to be somewhat of a masterstroke.

Although the Yorkshire-based outfit will be facing yet another year in the second tier, the fact that they managed to stay in contention for the play-offs until the penultimate week of the season indicates that they are on the right path for the future.

However, if they are to sustain a push for automatic promotion during the 2019/20 campaign, they will have to sort out their goalkeeping situation over the coming months.

With Keiren Westwood’s contract at Hillsborough set to expire in June (via Transfermarkt), the Republic of Ireland international has yet to commit to a new deal which must be worrying for Bruce given just how impressive he has been for the Owls.

If the 34-year-old does decide to seek a future elsewhere, Wednesday must consider replacing him with one of Portugal’s most consistent shot-stoppers.

Having delivered a number of stand-out performances for Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga this season, Quentin Beunardeau is reportedly one of Bruce’s main targets in the summer (via record.pt).

Rated at £450k by Transfermarkt, the French ‘keeper could prove to be a bargain for the Owls if he can replicate the same level of form which has seen him keep nine clean sheets in 25 appearances for the Iberian minnows this year.

Whereas Westwood is entering the twilight of his career, at the age of 25, Beunardeau is yet to reach his prime but could do so in South Yorkshire if Wednesday decide he is worth taking a risk on when the transfer window opens in July.

What do you think Owls fans? Should Bruce consider bringing in Beunardeau in the summer? Or would it be more beneficial if the 58-year-old does everything he can to convince Westwood to stay? Let us know below.

Leeds fans desperate to ruin Grealish’s Wembley party

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have been focusing on one man after they found out who they will be facing in the playoff final if they overcome Derby County in the semis.

Jack Grealish has been at the forefront of many Whites supporters’ minds after the two sides met last month.

The midfielder made a lasting impression on the spectators that day, but not for the right reasons. His alleged diving and theatrical style on the pitch has led to a lot of anger directed towards him from the Whites.

The Clarets’ talisman is one of the most talented players in the division, but his antics at Elland Road against Leeds clearly touched a nerve.

Now that Marcelo Bielsa’s side have a chance to set up a potential Wembley clash with Grealish and Co, United fans want to see the 23-year-old’s big day ruined.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…
