Riding a 42-match unbeaten streak in Eredivisie action, the Dutch side lost their first league match since January 2023. USMNT star Sergino Dest started the game, playing 90 minutes across the defeat, while U.S. internationals Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi came off the bench.

PSV scored the opening goal of the match, but then conceded three-straight to fall on the night. A late Luuk de Jong penalty could have sparked a comeback, but their leading scorer was denied from the spot by ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

BCCI covered under India's Right to Information Act, rules top appellate body

The Indian board is answerable to the people of the country under its mechanism, the Central Information Commission ruled on Monday

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is covered under India’s Right to Information (RTI) Act and answerable to the people of the country under its mechanism, the Central Information Commission (CIC) ruled on Monday. The commission, the top appellate body in RTI matters, went through the law, orders of the Supreme Court, the Law Commission of India report, submissions of the Central Public Information Officer in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to conclude that the status, nature and functional characteristics of the BCCI fulfil required conditions of Section 2(h) of the RTI Act.Section 2(h) of the Act defines criteria under which a body can be declared as public authority under the RTI Act.”The SC has also reaffirmed that the BCCI is the approved national-level body holding virtually monopoly rights to organise cricketing events in the country,” Information Commissioner Sridhar Acharyulu said in a 37-page long order. He directed the president, secretary and Committee of Administrators to designate deserving officers as central public information officers, central assistant public information officers and first appellate authorities as required under the law. Acharyulu also directed the BCCI to put in place, within 15 days, online and offline mechanisms to receive applications for information under the RTI Act.The matter came up before him as the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports did not give a satisfactory response to an RTI applicant, Geeta Rani, who had sought to know the provisions and guidelines under which the BCCI has been representing India and selecting players for the national team.Through the 12-pointer RTI application, she also asked whether the players selected by the BCCI are playing for India or for the association, how can a private body represent the country internationally and, how the government is benefiting from giving rights and authority to the BCCI to represent the country in international tournaments, among others. The ministry claimed it has no information available and the plea could not be transferred to the BCCI as the cricket board has not been declared a public authority under the RTI Act.The BCCI, on Monday, sought more time for submission but Acharyulu rejected the demand, saying the cricketing body, having received notices from the CIC, neither appeared on dates of hearing nor gave any written submission.”The BCCI should be listed as an NSF (National Sports Federation) covered under the RTI Act. The RTI Act should be made applicable to the BCCI along with its entire constituent member cricketing associations, provided they fulfil the criteria applicable to the BCCI, as discussed in the Law Commission’s report,” he said. The commissioner directed the BCCI to provide point-wise information sought by the appellant in this case, within 10 days from the date of receipt of the order.”The BCCI should have been held accountable under all circumstances for any violations of basic human rights of the stakeholders. As of today, there is no mechanism to question such violations, except filing a general writ petition in constitutional courts,” he said.Citing the Law Commission report, he said it not only affirmatively recognised the economic [monopoly] nature of the BCCI acting as a sports federation for cricket but also outlined the power and ability of such a body to impact the human rights of athletes and potential athletes.Acharyulu said previously, most attempts at legal analysis have primarily relied on whether the body is funded by the state and/or uses state insignia and names. He said while state funding is indeed one of the elements in determining whether a non-government organisation is a public authority, the economic and human rights impact of the body’s powers are dominant themes of the report and its recommendations.”This represents a broader and more contemporary view of the jurisprudence backing the application of public laws to prima facie ‘private’ bodies in sport,” he said.

Liverpool have held talks with "phenomenal" ace, his club have even replied

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp now has designs on bolstering his squad in January and reports claim that the Reds have established contact with a target from a top flight rival.

Liverpool maintain their title push…

In the summer, Liverpool boss Klopp was expected to carry out a rebuild of sorts after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign to put his side in contention for a tilt at the Premier League title. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo landed at Anfield during the last window and have given Liverpool some fresh energy in the engine room, while also offering some excellent foil for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez in attack.

Fast forward to mid-November and Liverpool are indeed involved in a title race with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, sitting second in the English top-flight with 27 points from their opening 12 matches. Nevertheless, January additions will be crucial for Liverpool if they are to fulfil their dreams of bringing just a second Premier League title to Anfield since the division was transformed in 1992.

Fluminense midfielder Andre is a well-documented target for Liverpool as Klopp eyes further midfield reinforcements; however, they will need to fend off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal to land the Brazil international, according to 90min.

Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies is also on the radar at Anfield, according to the same outlet. Liverpool chiefs, alongside club officials from suitors Chelsea and Manchester City, believe that the Canada international has his heart set on a blockbuster move to La Liga giants Real Madrid. Now, another target in the left-back area has been uncovered by a fresh report as bringing in cover for the injured Andy Robertson is explored at Anfield.

Liverpool in contact with Rayan Ait-Nouri

According to a report in France, Liverpool are keen on Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and have established contact with the Algeria international over a potential move to Anfield.

Ligue 1 pair Olympique Marseille and OGC Nice are also keeping tabs on the 22-year-old; however, it is believed that Wolves are blocking any potential Ait-Nouri departure in the January transfer window. Ait-Nouri is set to be absent from club football for a period during the New Year as he joins up with his native Algeria to take part in the African Cup of Nations.

Playing a major part under Gary O'Neil, Ait-Nouri, who has previously been labelled "phenomenal" by journalist Tim Spiers, has been in solid form this campaign, making an average of 2.5 tackles and 1.3 clearances per match in the Premier League (Ait-Nouri statistics – WhoScored).

At present, Liverpool only have Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas to rely upon on the left-hand side of their backline and acquiring Ait-Nouri could be a clever alternative to afford Klopp some flexibility within his team selection.

Despite this, Wolves look to be standing firm and it may be a tough job trying to pinch the former Angers defender from the West Midlands-based outfit.

Newcastle’s Tonali replacement plan boosted as "exceptional" ace wants move

Newcastle United have been boosted by the news that an "exceptional" transfer target is keen on a move to St James' Park in the January transfer window.

Newcastle eyeing Sandro Tonali replacements

The Magpies could look to improve in a number of areas when January arrives, but it has been no great surprise to see numerous midfielders linked with a move to the club, with that position seen as the main point of focus. That's because of Sandro Tonali's ten-month ban for betting offences, which means he won't play a single minute for the rest of this season, acting as a significant blow for Eddie Howe.

There is the option of Newcastle simply making do with their current options, considering they are still getting by with the players they have in the middle of the park, but that could be deemed a risk the longer the season goes on, with fixtures coming thick and fast in various competitions.

The likes of Kalvin Phillips, N'Golo Kante, Ruben Neves and Scott McTominay have all been linked with joining Newcastle, with a loan move looking most likely. It could even be a short-term deal until the end of the campaign comes to fruition, at which point Tonali would be edging towards his return to action.

Kalvin Phillips wants Newcastle move

According to a new update from Calciomercato [via Sport Witness], Phillips is specifically interested in joining Newcastle in January, with the report stating that the Magpies "lead the pack of clubs" looking to snap him up.

England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

While Juventus have also been seen as contenders to bring in the Manchester City and England ace, it is claimed that "Phillips is not Juventus’ first choice and Juventus are not Phillips’ first-choice". Instead, Newcastle are the club that the 27-year-old would like to join, seeing it as his best destination as he looks to boost his chances of featuring prominently for his country at Euro 2024.

Phillips has always arguably felt like the Magpies' best option to bring in when the January transfer window opens, so the fact that he would like to head to St James' can only be a good thing. Unlike Kante and Neves, he is still playing in the Premier League rather than the Saudi Pro League, so he could be more ready to make a seamless switch from City to Newcastle.

While the Englishman's year-and-a-bit-long spell at City hasn't gone to plan yet, he has still done his bit for the cause and was part of a squad that won a historic treble last season. Pep Guardiola may be happy to see Phillips move on in the near future, but the legendary Spaniard has still spoken highly of him, saying he is "exceptional in many things".

The former Leeds United star could be a perfect short-term replacement for Tonali, providing similar energy and technical ability in midfield, and if he were to come in and impress, it could even be that Newcastle look to sign him on a permanent deal once the 2023/24 season reaches its conclusion.

West Ham in new deal talks with "very important" man after Bowen and Soucek

West Ham United are attempting to tie down another "very important" player after their moves to secure both Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek's futures.

West Ham sign Bowen and Soucek to new contracts

David Moyes is just one of many at the club whose contracts expire next summer. The Scotsman, following a torrid run of recent form, is yet again under pressure – but he may well be joined by a host of other West Ham men out the London Stadium exit door.

Pablo Fornals, Ben Johnson, Vladimir Coufal, Michail Antonio, Conor Coventry, Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski and veteran defender Angelo Ogbonna's terms all run out in 2024, and it is believed decisions have already been made on a few of the aforementioned crop. Reports have claimed that Johnson and Coventry will leave West Ham upon the expiry of their contracts, while Fornals is set to depart West Ham when his terms run out as well.

West Ham cornerflags inside the London Stadium

Cresswell, who's become more of a bit-part figure this season, could even be sold in January. That being said, West Ham have managed to tie down a couple of key men, with reports suggesting that Soucek has signed a new contract in secret which is yet to be formally announced by West Ham (talkSPORT). Bowen, who's starred under Moyes this term, also officially committed his long-term future by putting pen to paper on a new deal till 2030.

“We’re delighted Jarrod has agreed a new deal. It’s a brilliant piece of business from the club to tie him down to a new long-term contract,” said Moyes on Bowen and his extension last month.

“His goal in Prague will live long in the memory for everyone connected to West Ham – it’s given him a platform to go from strength to strength and we’re really reaping the benefits, he’s getting better and better. He’s a fantastic boy and an outstanding professional – I’m sure his positive progress will continue over the course of his new contract.”

West Ham "in talks" with Antonio

Now, according to a report by journalist Pete O'Rourke for Football Insider, West Ham are "in talks" with Antonio over a new deal too as they seek to tie down their most crucial assets. The Jamaica international's current contract contains a club option to extend by another 12 months.

The Hammers are attempting renewal terms after Antonio "came close to leaving" in the summer, having received big money offers from the Middle East. The 33-year-old has started all 10 of West Ham's opening league games this season, scoring two, while backing defender Thilo Kehrer's point that he's a "very important" player for Moyes.

“Michail [Antonio] is working like crazy up front at the moment!” said Kehrer on Antonio earlier this year.

"He is putting the defenders under stress and every game he is doing a very important job right now. He is scoring goals as well, so we are really happy that we have him. Mich is a great teammate. A great personality and positive energy. We all have a lot of jokes and laughs with him. He makes everyone have a good time and he is also a hard worker too.”

Ranking all 20 Premier League club’s best academy graduates

Premier League clubs pride themselves on bringing young talent through the ranks and then playing them in the first-team.

This is a common trend not just in the top-flight but in English football in general.

Some of the brightest players currently playing at the highest level have come through these academies are now the stars of today and tomorrow.

So, we at Football FanCast have ranked every Premier League’s best academy product by their market value on Transfermarkt which is decided by the demand for a player and what league they are playing in amongst other factors.

20 Brentford: Ellery Balcombe

Value: £259.4k

West London is where this list gets started with Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe.

He is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Bees but Balcombe did play all 120 minutes in the EFL Cup game against Newport County, one which they won via a penalty shootout.

19 AFC Bournemouth: Gavin Kilkenny

Value: £345.6k

Gavin Kilkenny is another yet to make his Premier League debut but he did play 14 times in the Championship in the 2021/22 season, totalling 1,100 minutes.

The midfielder has previously gone out on loan to Stoke City and Charlton Athletic but has since returned to AFC Bournemouth.

18 Everton: Lewis Dobbin

Value: £777.5k

Lewis Dobbin is the first name on this list to have appeared in the top-flight with his first start coming against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 26th, 2023.

Meanwhile, Rafael Benitez gave him his debut, sending him on as a substitute for Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park in September of 2021. Norwich City were the opponents that day.

17 Burnley: Jay Rodriguez

Value: £864k

Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez.

Jay Rodriguez has certainly appeared in the Premier League, playing well over 200 times in the competition and counting.

Despite being a Burnley product, he actually made his debut in a Southampton shirt in the 2012/13 season after a strong couple of seasons with the Clarets in the Championship.

16 Luton Town: Cauley Woodrow

Value: £1 million

Cauley Woodrow graduated from the Luton Town academy, went on to play for Fulham and Barnsley before returning to Kenilworth Road over a decade later.

This is of course Luton’s first season in the Premier League, meaning that Woodrow’s debut in the competition for the Hatters came this season as well. Although, this isn't his first taste overall, as he actually made 6 PL appearances during his Fulham days in the 2013/14 campaign, scoring once under the stewardship of Felix Magath.

15 Fulham: Marek Rodak

Value: £2.6 million

Talking of players to make their Premier League debut whilst wearing the white of Fulham and the same goes for goalkeeper Marek Rodak.

The Slovakian shot-stopper made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on September 12th, 2020. He made two league appearances that term.

14 Sheffield United: Rhys Norrington-Davies

Value: £2.6 million

Rhys Norrington-Davies was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia which must be somewhat rare for a Welsh international.

He is another to feature on this list that is yet to make his Premier League debut and yet is still valued at a very solid £2.6 million, owing to his very respectable performances in the Championship for the likes of Sheffield United and Stoke City.

13 Wolverhampton Wanderers: Hugo Bueno

Value: £5.2 million

Wolves' Hugo Bueno competing with Michael Olise of Crystal Palace.

Hugo Bueno is the next man up, and he is valued at double Norrington-Davies having been a very consistent performer for Wolverhampton Wanderers last term.

The fullback made 21 Premier League appearances, 16 of these being starts and he amassed a total of 1,316 minutes. All of that at just 20 years of age.

12 West Ham United: Ben Johnson

Value: £8.6 million

West Ham United defender Ben Johnson.

Keeping on the theme of fullbacks and Ben Johnson has become a regular in West Ham United squads despite his age.

Johnson first appeared in the Premier League in the 2018/19 season with Manuel Pellegrini giving him his debut against his own former employers, Manchester City.

David Moyes has since put a lot of trust in him and 20 league appearances in the 2021/22 is a career-high for him to date.

11 Nottingham Forest: Joe Worrall

Value: £10.4 million

Joe Worrall Nottingham Forest

Joe Worrall graduated from the Nottingham Forest academy into the first-team in 2016 and has remained a mainstay in the side ever since.

He played a major role in their promotion back to the Premier League and made his own top-flight debut on the opening day of last season in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.

Worrall made 30 appearances that term for a total of over 2,200 minutes.

Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Rashid Khan among overseas marquee picks for Mzansi Super League

Chris Morris, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dane Vilas and David Miller have secured million-rand contracts in the player draft for the upcoming Mzansi Super League, South Africa’s new city-based T20 league. They were all picked in the first round, the six teams having already been allocated headlining Protea players last week and then picking their marquee international players in a mini-draft before the main event.Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Eoin Morgan, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy and Rashid Khan formed the marquee international picks. All will be away for some portion of the tournament, however, having also signed on for the Abu Dhabi T10 League that runs from November 23 to December 2 – right in the middle of the month-long MSL, which starts on November 16 and ends on December 16.With the MSL tournament regulations stipulating that every team must include a minimum of three overseas players (including the marquee internationals), three nationally contracted players (inclusive of the allocated Proteas) and a minimum of one domestic rookie, most of the teams opted to build their squads along similar lines to those seen in the domestic franchises – with a few exceptions. There were some surprises among those who went unsold, including Dwayne Smith, Lendl Simmons, Brendan Taylor, Rilee Rossouw, Sam Billings, Shoaib Malik, Marlon Samuels and Mohammad Irfan. Wayne Parnell and David Wiese might have gone to Durban Heat and Paarl Rocks respectively, but the draft had passed their reserve prices before those teams put in unsuccessful bids.ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Jozi Stars: Kagiso Rabada, Chris Gayle, Dane Vilas, Rassie van der Dussen, Dan Christian, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius, Eddie Leie, Pite van Biljon, Duanne Olivier, Ryan Rickelton, Sinethemba Qeshile, Simon Harmer, Calvin Savage, Alfred MothoaBased at the Wanderers, Jozi Stars’ bowling line-up will be headed by Kagiso Rabada. The Stars have also secured the services of Chris Gayle as their international marquee player. While Gayle may be at the tail end of his career, his six-hitting ability will come in very handy in Highveld conditions at home.Durban Heat: Hashim Amla, Rashid Khan, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Kyle Abbott, Keshav Maharaj, Khaya Zondo, Albie Morkel, Marchant de Lange, Vernon Philander, Brandon Mavuta, Temba Bavuma, Morne van Wyk, Okuhle Cele, Sarel Erwee, Tladi BokakoThere’s a local flavour to Durban Heat’s line-up. They have Hashim Amla and David Miller, both of whom play their franchise cricket for Dolphins and are proven performers at Kingsmead. The Heat already have their spin options sorted, having chosen Rashid Khan and Keshav Maharaj in the draft. Indeed, Rashid was the very first pick of the day, and came at a cost of R 1,000,000 (USD 70,000 approx).Cape Town Blitz: Quinton de Kock, Dawid Malan, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dale Steyn, Samuel Badree, Asif Ali, Farhaan Behardien, Anrich Nortje, Janneman Malan, Malusi Siboto, George Linde, Ferisco Adams, Jason Smith, Sibonelo Makhanya, Kyle Verreynne, Dane Piedt.Cape Town Blitz will be based at Newlands, and the core of their bowling attack will be formed by Dale Steyn, Andile Phehlukwayo and Samuel Badree. Coach Ashwell Prince suggested that the Blitz would be making their picks with player availability in mind, and as such they opted for England’s Dawid Malan as their international marquee player.Nelson Mandela Bay Giants: Imran Tahir, Jason Roy, Chris Morris, Jon-Jon Smuts, Junior Dala, Christiaan Jonker, Aaron Phangiso, Ben Duckett, Sisanda Magala, Ryan McLaren, Heino Kuhn, Marco Marais, Dyllan Matthews (rookie), Lizaad Williams, Rudi Second, Carmi le Roux.St. George’s Park is one of the smaller grounds that will host a team at the MSL, with a capacity of 19,000, but they will have one of T20 cricket’s most experienced campaigners in their team: Imran Tahir, the Giants’ marquee South Africa player. They have also secured Jason Roy’s services. JJ Smuts, who is local to the Eastern Cape and plays his domestic cricket for Warriors, has been picked to captain.Paarl Rocks: Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dane Paterson, Aiden Markram, Mangaliso Mosehle, Bjorn Fortuin, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Grant Thomson, Paul Stirling, Tshepo Moreki, Henry Davids, Cameron Delport, Eathan Bosch, Patrick Kruger, Kerwin Mungroo.Boland Park, the ground that will host Paarl Rocks, is even smaller than St George’s Park, with a capacity of 10,000. But the universities in the area mean that day-night limited-overs cricket is generally very well attended, and the ground is truly picturesque. The students will no doubt be treated to some wicket-taking celebratory dance moves from Dwayne Bravo and Tabraiz Shamsi, who will both play for the Rocks, as will Faf du Plessis.Tshwane Spartans: AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, Lungi Ngidi, Robbie Frylinck, Jeevan Mendis, Theunis de Bruyn, Rory Kleinveldt, Sean Williams, Gihahn Cloete, Lutho Sipamla, Tony de Zorzi, Dean Elgar, Andrew Birch, Sikandar Raza, Shaun von Berg, Eldred Hawken.Tshwane Spartans crucially secured AB de Villiers as their marquee South African player before the draft began, and the runs could flow at SuperSport Park as their middle order is shaping up to be one of the most fearsome in the competition. Eoin Morgan is their international marquee player, while Jeevan Mendis rounds out the lower middle order. Lungi Ngidi and Robbie Frylinck will lead with the ball.

Arteta keen: Arsenal eyeing move to sign "impressive" new £50m+ player

Arsenal, barring a minor blip in a draw against Fulham, have been near-flawless once again in the Premier League this season. The Gunners only trail behind table-toppers and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur by two points and stand every chance of competing for the title yet again. Their last victory was scintillating as they brushed aside a struggling Sheffield United 5-0 in a game that saw Eddie Nketiah score a hat-trick.

Mikel Arteta will still look to improve his side in the forthcoming transfer windows, though, in the hope of sustaining Arsenal's rise for as long as possible, and that could result in the arrival of one particular defensive target.

Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal may have proved just how much they've improved on the pitch last season, but some could have still had their doubts about the Gunners' ability to operate as a top club away from The Emirates turf. Those doubts have now been put to bed, though. Those in North London made a statement in the summer by signing Declan Rice whilst extending the contracts of several key stars. The more that Arsenal's improvement takes place, the more they look like a club ready to take a permanent seat at Europe's top table once more, which could strengthen their position in the transfer market even further.

According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Marc Guehi. The Gunners are reportedly interested in making their move for the Crystal Palace star next summer, which could see the start of a bidding war with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. Arteta sees Guehi as part of his long-term plans, and if Arsenal are to land the England international, the deal will likely cost them over £50m, according to reports, as Palace look to receive a club-record fee.

Marc Guehi's stats

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson shakes hands withMarcGuehiafter the match

At just 23 years of age, Guehi's stats show that he is well on course to become one of the Premier League's top defenders. The interest of top clubs comes as no surprise and, when compared to Arsenal's current defenders, it's easy to see why the Gunners want to make their move in the summer of next year.

Given that Guehi is already performing at an impressive level, he could be ready for a big move at the end of the season. The Palace man will undoubtedly have plenty of suitors to choose from, including Arsenal, who may hope to persuade the centre-back to buy into Arteta's ever-improving project.

The Chelsea academy graduate has been at the centre of praise during his time at Selhurst Park, earning the positive words of Gary Lineker, who told The Rest is Football podcast: “I thought Marc Guehi, when he came on, was really impressive and authoritative.”

Everything is pointing in the right direction for Guehi at the moment and he will be keen to ensure that his rise only continues to come in the rest of the season. Whether he gets his big move or not, remains to be seen, but he certainly deserves it.
